Viva Mexico 2019 - Isla Mujeres

It's summer again and time to travel. The best husband convinced me to travel to Mexico and after now having spent 3 awesome weeks there I cannot remember why it needed so much convincing.
We saw amazing sights and I have a new appreciation for the Mayans. The cenotes are great to cool off and if you are lucky to see some nice wildlife. The food was amazing and I am still craving the aguachile I had at the lagoon in Bacalar. And most of all, Mexico wouldn't be Mexico without it's warm and welcoming people. We always felt very welcome and safe wherever we went.

We started off on the Isla Mujeres, to get into the vacation groove and just to arrive in this new climate of around 40C and high humidity. The island is surrounded by amazingly blue clear waters and we spent a day just hanging out at the beach. The next day we tried some activities and borrowed bikes from the hotel to travel a bit on the island, just to end up on the beach again ;). We stayed in the Casa de los Sueños, the ocean access is really nice and wasn't crowded at all. In the evening we were hanging out in the pool right in front of our room.

Pro-tip: Always pay in cash and pesos - the exchange rates at the hotels are not always in your favor.

Welcoming view and we arrived at the hotel.

Leaving the journey behind and jump right in.

Chill'n

Our first taste of the Yucatecan food.

Food 2.
At Punta Sur - the most eastern part of Mexico.

The bikes were old and crappy - but we had fun never the less.

And jumping again!
