We arrived about half an hour earlier than scheduled, around 3:30 pm, at JFK airport in New York. Than our luck seemed to vanish arriving at immigration. Before us a flight from India arrived with lots of people who did not know how to fill their forms and then the computers crashed...
After all, we managed to get thru, we meet the nicest immigration officer ever and after finally finishing the immigration part all our suitcases were lined up nicely for us to pick up.
We went straight to Hertz to get our car - a Dodge Minivan, in which our suitcases barely fit in. Than off we went to meet with our friends in Connecticut. They awaited us with a delicious meal, which the kids missed because they felt asleep during the trip.
Wir hatten ein tolles Wochenende, es war nochmal so richtig warm, die kids hatten Spaß im Garten zu spielen und die Großen schwelgten in Erinnerungen. Es wurde dann noch der Geburtstag vom Schulkind vorgefeiert, weil am Montag dazu wenig Zeit zu sein schien, was ihn mächtig gefreut hat!
Am Nachmittag mußten wir uns ein weiteres Mal verabschieden, aber nicht für lang! Spätestens zu Thanksgiving sehen wir uns wieder!

Hello. Then we drove towards our new home, for the next days, the BNL site. We moved into a big apartment, two bedroom, huge living room with a dinning area and kitchen and bath. After storing all our stuff, we went off to fill the fridge :) We went to
Stop&Shop. Frau made the family go there - we now buy milk by the gallon ;) and look for things like buy one get one free - funny way to do shopping. We bought a nice
Tiramisu cake for the Schulkinds birthday. After two exhausting but happy days we felt asleep in our new temporary home.
